The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 11. km beneath the epicenter late at night on Monday, March 3rd, 2025, at 11:20 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.

Just 5 minutes ago, a 2.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Nîmes, Gard, Occitanie, France. The tremor was recorded early afternoon on Monday, March 3rd, 2025, at 3:45 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 5. km below the surface.
