A new episode is likely within the next 2-4 days. Mar 2, 2025 20:26 - Activity Summary: Kīlaueaʻs summit eruption paused as of at 7:06 a.m. HST on Wednesday, February 26 within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. A new episode is likely within the next 2-4 days.Episode 11 of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption began at 6:26 p.m. HST on February 25 and fountains reached peak heights of around 600 feet (180 m) 1-2 hours later. The eruption ended on erupting after 12 hours and 40 minutes of activity. Kīlauea's current eruption in Halemaʻumaʻu crater within Kaluapele (the summit caldera) began on December 23, 2024. There have been 11 ... |
March 3rd, 2025 12:20:55 EST -0500 AVO Great Sitkin ORANGE/WATCH - Slow eruption of lava continues at Great Sitkin Volcano. Mar 2, 2025 18:45 - Lava continues to erupt slowly in the summit crater of Great Sitkin Volcano. Small earthquakes continue at a low rate. Satellite views were obscured by cloudy condition, but occasional web camera views of the summit showed minor steam emissions over the past day.The current eruption of Great Sitkin Volcano began with a single explosive event in May 2021. The ongoing eruption of lava at the summit began shortly afterward, in July 2021. The volcano is monitored using local seismic and infrasound sensors, satellite data and web cameras, and regional infrasound and lightning ... |
March 3rd, 2025 12:20:55 EST -0500 AVO Spurr YELLOW/ADVISORY - Shallow earthquake activity continues beneath Mount Spurr. Mar 2, 2025 18:45 - Unrest continues at Mount Spurr, with numerous small, shallow volcanic earthquakes detected beneath the volcano. Satellite observations were mostly cloudy over the past day, and did not show unusual activity. Web camera views were also mostly obscured by cloudy conditions.AVO continues to monitor activity at Mount Spurr for signals that would indicate that the volcano is moving closer to an eruption. Based on previous eruptions, changes from current activity in the earthquakes, ground deformation, summit lake, and fumaroles would be expected if magma began to move closer ... |
March 3rd, 2025 12:20:55 EST -0500 AVO Atka volcanic complex YELLOW/ADVISORY - Seismicity remains low. Mar 2, 2025 18:45 - Activity remains low at the Atka volcanic complex. Several small local seismic events were observed over the past day, but the overall level of seismicity is very low. No unusual activity observed in satellite or web camera views.AVO has detected no activity since a small explosion at the summit of Korovin Volcano on the evening of February 20. Korovin is one of the volcanoes that makes up the Atka volcanic complex. The Atka volcanic complex is monitored by local seismic and infrasound sensors and webcam, satellite data, and regional lightning detection instruments. |

Deformation measurements indicate a small amount of caldera subsidence since early October. Recent Work and NewsJust before midnight on February 3, Steamboat Geyser had its first major eruption of the year.Happy 153rd birthday to Yellowstone National Park, which was founded on this day in 1872! SeismicityDuring February 2025, the University of Utah Seismograph Stations, responsible for the operation and analysis of the Yellowstone Seismic Network, ... |

These include Mount Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams in Washington State and Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, Three Sisters, Newberry, and Crater Lake in Oregon.Past Week Observations: During the past week, small earthquakes were detected at Mount Baker, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Hood. All monitoring data are consistent with background activity levels in the Cascade Range. Field crews conducted critical ... |
March 3rd, 2025 12:20:55 EST -0500 NMI Ahyi Seamount YELLOW/ADVISORY - Unrest continues. No unusual activity was observed in satellite data. Possible signals detected in hydroacoustic data. Feb 27, 2025 23:18 - Unrest at Ahyi Seamount continues. Weak signals from the direction of Ahyi were occasionally detected in hydroacoustic array data at Wake Island throughout the past week. No plumes of discolored water were observed in satellite data over the past week. The last observation of discolored water was on February 16. Similar, weak activity at Ahyi Seamount has been observed in satellite imagery off and on extending back to August 5, 2024.There are no local monitoring stations near Ahyi seamount, which limits our ability to detect and characterize volcanic unrest there. We will ... |
March 3rd, 2025 12:20:55 EST -0500 CALVO GREEN/NORMAL - CA volcanoes were at normal background levels of seismicity and deformation during the past week.
